I use timers all day long, they are one of my favorite tools to keep me conscious of time passing and to motivate me to do daily tasks.
My first timer was a digital kitchen timer that I used to track my morning routine and and to get myself started on house chores like washing dishes.
Then I got this big, gorgeous timer for my kids called Time Timer that I am featuring in my photo above to help them visualize what I mean when I say they need to do just 5 minutes of clean-up for example and to manage their screen-time, so when the timer goes off the TV gets turned off.
I loved this timer so much that I also started using it for my morning routine because otherwise I’d get so into it that I forget I need to start getting ready to leave the house.
I still use a digital timer like this one for meditation and whenever I want to do the fast-track version of my morning routine by setting 5-minute intervals for my morning ritual activities.
For work I got a 20-minute sand timer from a local store and then these cute super affordable sand timers online that range from 30 seconds to 10 minutes that are always on my desk. I use them to track reading for 5 minutes daily, for work start-up ritual and so on.
I got my eyes set on this new sophisticated 30-minute hourglass timer, just because it is so pretty and maybe because I don’t have this time interval yet (cool reasoning ,no?). However, this year I really want to make mindful online purchases and anticipate more, so I decided I will get it as a reward for achieving one of my 2021 goals, hopefully later this year.
For deep work sessions I use multiple digital solutions to track the advised minimum of 30 minutes per session; hence the reward timer mentioned above. I will share more about those in the next post.
